Welfare & Mental Health Support
Qualified support for competitors under pressure — available to anyone in the league, confidentially.
Paid · On call during the season · Nairobi or remote
This role works directly with competitors, some of whom are under 18. There is a vetting step before you start — references and a conversation. It is not a formality and we will not skip it.
Why a league needs this
Competition puts people under real pressure, and this format concentrates it: public results, a named individual ranking, hundreds of people watching a draft, and a season that can end your involvement entirely. Some of the competitors are teenagers.
Most of the time that is fine. Occasionally it is not, and a league that has thought about the occasion beforehand is a very different thing from one that has not.
What we are asking for
A qualified, registered practitioner who competitors can reach confidentially and directly, without going through a referee, a captain, or anyone at UGL.
What UGL will not do
- We will not claim to provide clinical care. UGL is an esports league. This
role connects people to a professional; it does not make UGL one.
- We will not sit between you and a competitor. Nothing said to you is
reported to us, and no result depends on whether somebody used this.
- We will not take copies of your credentials. Tell us what to verify and
who to ask, and we will verify it out of band.
If you think this is being set up wrongly, say so in your application. We would rather hear it now.
