Mentor / Coach

Help a newer gamer get better — fundamentals, match preparation, and handling a bad run.

Volunteer · An hour or two a week · Remote or Nairobi

This role works directly with competitors, some of whom are under 18. There is a vetting step before you start — references and a conversation. It is not a formality and we will not skip it.

Why this role exists

The draft is random. That is the point of it, and it means a first-time competitor can be drawn alongside someone who has played for years, in a division where they lose their first six sets in a row.

Nothing in the format helps that person. A mentor does.

What it looks like

Not coaching in the professional sense. Watching a few of someone's matches, telling them the one thing that would help most, and being around when they want to talk about a bad night.

The most useful thing you can offer is usually not tactical. It is that losing six in a row is survivable and everyone good at this has done it.

Working with under-18s

Many of the people who most need a mentor are the youngest. There is a vetting step before you start — references and a conversation. We will not skip it.

Put your hand up

No account needed. Mentor / Coach — tell us a little about you.

We use what you send here to consider your application and get back to you, and for nothing else.
